Step into the Wild West, and ride Galloping Goose No. 5 on the historic Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad.

Dates: September 25-29, 2019

The Experience:

Day 1. Chama, NM to Osier, CO (with lunch at Osier). Return to Chama. Highlights include Lobato Trestle, Cresco Tank (built in 1893), Windy Point, Cumbres Pass (elevation 10,022 feet), Tanglefoot Curve, Los Pinos, Cascade Trestle (built in 1889) and the remote outpost of Osier (with structures dating to 1880). Departure at 8:30 am. Cost: $125 per adult. SOLD OUT.

Day 2. Chama, NM to Antonito, CO (with lunch at Osier). Highlights include everything from Day 1 PLUS Rock Tunnel, the Toltec Gorge, Calico Cut, Phantom Curve, Mud Tunnel, historic Sublette, Big Horn, Whiplash Curve, Lava Tank, Ferguson’s Trestle (also known as Hangman’s Trestle) and much more. This is a 64 mile trip (one-way). We’ll cross the Colorado/New Mexico border 11 times! Departure at 8:30 am. Cost: $125 per adult. SOLD OUT.

Day 3. Antonito, CO to Chama, NM (with lunch at Osier). Highlights include Ferguson’s Trestle (also known as Hangman’s Trestle), Lava Tank, Whiplash Curve, Big Horn, historic Sublette, Mud Tunnel, Phantom Curve, Calico Cut, the Toltec Gorge, Rock Tunnel, and everything else included on Day 2. PLUS, we’ll descend the four percent grade from Cumbres Pass to Chama, enjoying phenomenal views of northern New Mexico and the Chama River Valley the entire way. This is a 64 mile trip (one-way). We’ll cross the Colorado/New Mexico border 11 times! Departure at 8:30 am. Cost: $125 per adult. SOLD OUT.

Day 4. Chama, NM to Osier, CO (with lunch at Osier). Return to Chama. Day 5. Chama, NM to Cumbres Pass, CO. Return to Chama. All aboard the Cumbres Express! Highlights include Lobato Trestle, Cresco Tank (built in 1893), Windy Point and Cumbres Pass, elevation 10,022 feet. We’ll turn around on the wye at Cumbres before returning to Chama. This is a great opportunity to grab photos of the Goose beneath the snowshed at Cumbres. You’ll also have lots of time to enjoy the outstanding views of northern New Mexico and the Chama River Valley. Note: We’ll be running two Goose trips on this day. The morning trip is open to the public and reservable, but the afternoon trip is a special and is not available to the public. By riding the Goose during the morning on this day, you’ll have extra time to grab photos of the structures and equipment in Chama, chase and photograph the second Goose trip in the afternoon, AND photograph the passenger steam train as it rolls back to town. This day can be as relaxing or ambitious as you like. Departure at 8:30 am. Cost: $60 per adult. SOLD OUT.

Old West Fest - Ridgway, CO

Help us break in the new track in Ridgway!

Come see Goose No. 5 operating at Ridgway Colorado’s “Old West Fest.” Goose No. 5 will join Motor No. 1 and RGS Goose No. 4 for a mini reunion running on the Ridgway Railroad Museum’s newly-constructed railroad. Note: The unveiling of replica locomotive RGS No. 36 has been postponed until 2020.
